Strathmore Ball Fields

Strathmore, AB – 2009

The site for the Strathmore Ball Field, located next to an existing wetland area, posed many challenges.  By utilizing best management practices to address wetland compensation, habitat management and wetland buffers, Lombard North Group was able to develop a number of conceptual plans that successfully addressed the Town’s wishes. The final development plan selected for future development by the Town, was a compilation of options which ultimately featured a full sized parking lot, concession buildings, an off-leash dog park area, competition quality junior baseball diamonds and a feature field, all of which comply with NCAA Tournament Standards.

Town of Lacombe Sports Facilities

Lacombe, AB – 2000

The Town of Lacombe has been redeveloping their sports field facilities since 2000.  A variety of concepts for various sports amenities throughout the community have been developed to address changing needs and user demands with respect to baseball, soccer, and football. A number of planning studies have been initiated that have concentrated on the development and Master Planning of two specific municipal sites, one of which is an existing sport field area, and the second was a new undeveloped former landfill.  Lombard North Group developed concept options for these sports amenities addressing the needs of the town and the sites’ limitations. The concepts included sports fields, neighbourhood access, vehicle accommodation, passive park space, and pedestrian pathway systems. The first site was completed in 2001 while construction on the second site was finished in 2012.
