Storm Ponds in Fish Creek Provincial Park
Overview
Calgary, AB – 2008
Fish Creek Park occupies 1300 hectares of the Fish Creek River Valley and is characterized as an area rich in cultural and natural resources. Lombard North was responsible for the original design and development of this, Canada’s first urban Provincial Park, and has since completed several lifecycle improvement upgrades. Most recently, Lombard, in collaboration with MPE, assisted Alberta Parks and the City of Calgary with a new Storm Water Quality Improvement project in one of the site’s natural grassland areas. The work included the planning and development of new storm ponds, site analysis and resource inventory, public consultation, habitat preservation and restoration, and the planning and re-routing of new pedestrian trails.
